In order to complete Lesson 2 I employed the basics of colour co-ordination
learnt in Lesson 1, that of choosing a swatch of colours
in order to make this page colour co-ordinated too.
I choose five colours from the central Orchid image
from a very dark navy to a pale lilac.
Using the two palest colours from my swatch I made a 200 x 200 pixel image
using Paint Shop Pro, after applying a 'Swirl' filter using Eye-Candy 3
I then applied the 'Quick Tile" filter from Simple Filters to make it
into this 'Seamless Tile'.
Because the background colour of the plain border and the center page
is not a 'Web Safe' colour I decided to make a small 'coloured tile' to use as a
background image so that the plain border and page background colour would
show up in the colour I had intended and not some darker or indeed
a lighter shade of pale lilac.
For the thin multi-coloured border I made a 100 x 100 pixel tile in PSP.
Then using the four lightest colours from my swatch I flood filled it
with a 'Linear Gradient' thus ensuring a good colour match for the page.
